JIPMER traces its origin to 1823 when a medical school called “Ecole de Medicine de Pondichery” was established by French government. In November 1956 the Government of India took over the medical college in the wake of the transfer of Pondicherry. JIPMER MBBS Exam Date : First week of June, 2012.
(i) The Applicant should be a Resident Indian National.
(ii) The Applicant should have studied and completed their course in the schools located in India in the preceding two years.
(iii) He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2012, the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S., i.e. they should have been born on or before 01-01-1995, and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.
( Request for relaxation from the prescribed age limit will not be considered for any category of applicants ).
(iv) The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below :
• The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology and Mathematics or any other elective with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education
• The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio – technology at the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination. For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes / OPH the marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology taken together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination is 40%.
• For OPH candidates in general category the minimum marks taken together in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination will be 45%.
• The Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination other than those mentioned in the list appended in Annexure – I, will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate before admission is finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from the JIPMER is essential to foreign nationals nominated by the Central Government for admission to JIPMER M.B.B.S. Course.
Applicants who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying examination in March / April 2012 and whose results have not yet been declared can also apply for JIPMER MBBS 2012 admission, if the other eligibility criteria (i), (ii) and (iii) are fulfilled.
Please note that being called for the JIPMER 2012 Entrance Examination does not necessarily mean the acceptance of eligibility for the candidates whose results of the qualifying examinations are yet to be declared.
The JIPMER Medical 2012 Prospectus with the Application Forms can be obtained against only cash payment of 1000/- for Unreserved / Other Backward Classes Category (UR / OBC / P – UR / P – OBC )) and
650/- for Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Category ( SC / ST / P – SC ) from State Bank of India, JIPMER Campus, Pondicherry – 605 006 on all working days up to Second Week of April, 2012.
This includes cost of JIPMER 2012 Prospectus as well as Non – Refundable Examination Fee. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
State Bank of India, JIPMER Campus at JIPMER is the only branch where the applications are sold against cash payment.
The bank timings when the applications will be available are 10.00 am to 04.00 pm on all working days ( Monday to Friday ) and from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon on Saturdays. No request for issue will be entertained after these stipulated hours.
The State Bank of India will not send the Prospectus by Post; Hence No Request should be made to the Bank for Sending the Same by Post.

Upto Second Week of April, 2012 through Postal requests, accompanied by a M.I.C.R. Bank Draft of 1000/- ( Unreserved / OBC ) and 650/- ( SC / ST ) drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, JIPMER” payable at any Nationalized Banks in Pondicherry Union Territory. 13cm x 7cm self addressed label must accompany the postal request for correct delivery of the JIPMER 2012 Application Forms.
Those candidates who are applying in the Off – line JIPMER 2012 application forms obtained from this Institute through post or in person from State Bank of India in JIPMER have to send the filled – in JIPMER 2012 application form along with the acknowledgement card kept in the envelope with their address duly filled. The application number should be written at the top in the copy of OBC / SC / ST and Medical Certificate.
JIPMER MBBS 2012 Online Applications : JIPMER MBBS 2012 Application can be submitted by Online process ( Internet based ) by accessing the Website: www.jipmer.edu.in link from First Week of March, 2012 to Second Week of April, 2012. The candidate should first pay the non – refundable JIPMER 2012 application fee of 1000/- ( Unreserved / OBC ) and 650/- ( SC / ST ) by obtaining a Demand Draft as mentioned above. The draft details are required while filling up JIPMER MBBS 2012 Online Application Form.
Candidates are required to take a print of a single JIPMER Online Application Form 2012 after successful submission of data. The printed Form with the requisite signatures, photograph, attestations, left thumb print of the applicant and the demand draft must be sent by speed post so as to reach the following addresses by Last Week of April, 2012.

Attested copies of OBC / SC / ST certificates, Medical Certificate in support of disability must be enclosed with the JIPMER MBBS 2012 Application Form wherever applicable. Failure to enclose these certificates will render the completed applications ( both off – line and JIPMER Online Application Form 2012 ) ineligible for Entrance Examination.
Online applicants are advised to check the DD number, date, authority’s valid signature drawee’s branch with code number and whether it is MICR compatible. If the draft is found defective in any manner, hall ticket for JIPMER 2012 Entrance Examination will not be sent and the draft will not be refunded. Please mention the application number on the reverse of the demand draft
JIPMER MBBS Entrance Result 2012 is likely to be declared in the month of July, 2012.
